Review: Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Saint

Makeup Monday

I bought this eyeshadow palette from Sephora almost a month ago and I have hardly used it since. Now, I wouldn’t say it is the worst palette whatsoever, but it’s definitely not one of my favourites. It has good pigmentation but a lot of fall out which is something I really dislike in an eyeshadow and an eyeshadow palette (tends to make things really messy). On top of that, even with eyeshadow primer, the browns and the golds are actually more of an orange on my skin tone, which is not something I find flattering. Maybe I’m comparing this palette to my Urban Decay Naked Palettes too much, but I did pay a good amount of money for it and was expecting a higher quality palette; especially because I do like some of the other Kat Von D products and find them to be great quality!  (SWATCHES ON DIFFERENT SKIN TONES AT THE BOTTOM)

Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Saint  $43 – from Sephora

Positive things about this Palette:
– Very pigmented
– A lot of colours for the price
– Comes with an excellent (mini) eyeliner
– Really sturdy and nice packaging
– Good size for travelling
– Good if you like shimmer
– Big Mirror

Negative things about this Palette:

– Very orange colour payoff (may differ depending on skin tone)
– A lot of fall out
– Can also be seen as expensive for what it is
– Comes with an eyeliner rather than a brush
– Bad if you do not like shimmer (colours are EXTREMELY shimmery)
– Does not say colour names inside the palette beside the colour, only on the back

Colour names in the palette in order from left to right:
Caravaggio, Bookworm, Pray for me, Sunny, Downtown, < 3, Enjoy the silence, Heavens

Swatches on my light skin tone
You can see here in the swatches that the middle few colours are extremely orange and the dark colours are all VERY similar

Swatches on a bit darker skin tone than my own
Colours come across as still orange, but not as orange as on my lighter skin tone

Verdict: From my own personal experience with this palette, I would not say it is worth the price and I would also not recommend this to a friend who is looking for a staple everyday neutral palette

I hope everyone has an awesome rest of the week! Let me know in the comments below if you have ever tried this palette or one of your friends has and what you think of it/what they think!
