Mother’s day is coming up soon and I thought it would be a great idea to share with you all some great gift ideas for your mother. Although it is obvious that all mothers really want on mothers day is to spend time with you, sometimes it feels nice to do something extra that day. My mother is the absolute best. She raised be to be the person I am today which is strong, independent and appreciative of what I have (she obviously taught me a lot more life lessons which were also important, but I thought I would mention the more broad ones). In no particular order, here is a list of a few mother’s day gift ideas.
Also, head to the very bottom of this post to watch an AMAZING video I just saw this past week. But I won’t give what it’s about away, or else that will ruin the Surprise, so check it out to see!
1. Mother’s Day Card or Handmade Mothers Day Card
Putting the effort into making a card for your mom will show your appreciation for her even more. I love to take a little bit of time to hand make all my cards to make the day a little more special. If you don’t find you have time or can’t make a card, a great place to buy beautiful inexpensive cards is on Rifle Paper Co (click image above to head to the website!)
2. Flowers or Small Plants
It’s just a given, flowers or small plants are great for any occasion and most girls/woman love receiving them . Picking up some flowers or small plants on Mother’s day will be a nice surprise for her. It’s spring, so all the flowers right now look beautiful and i’m sure she’d love them to brighten up the house!
3. Starbucks Collage To-Go Mug
This little gift is great because you can buy it and put a picture collage or a piece of your art work (or anything!) in it for your mom. Personally, for my moms birthday I printed out some old photos and made a collage for her and put it inside of the mug. Purchase the mug in store or here for an awesome gift!
Tea is a thoughtful yet inexpensive gift that you can get if you know your mother (or caregiver) likes tea! I usually like to buy my mom the tea tins from Starbucks because they look nice and are not very pricey for the amount of tea you get. Another great place to find inexpensive but VERY GOOD tea is Teavana; there you can buy tea in bulk.
Although Jewellery can be expensive, it doesn’t necessarily have to be. If you want the piece of jewellery to be even more meaningful you can try picking up a jewellery making kit from a craft store and making some for a gift! Or, if you want to buy some, see if you have any local venders outside that sell jewellery, they also have great stuff at these places! One more place to look at if you want to pick up a special jewellery item as a gift is online at Etsy where you can purchase all handmade jewellery!
Candles are another great gift for every occasion. For mothers day, I would suggest checking out places like yankee candles, chapters or ikea (of course there are many other places too) for great smelling, inexpensive candles to gift for mothers day!
7. Digital Picture Frame
Digital Photo Frames are an awesome present to get for someone. They allow you to store tons of pictures on them and it goes through them as a slideshow. You can either fill it with photos before giving it as a gift and surprise your mom (or caregiver) with pictures, or you can allow them to put them on themselves.
8. Wall Art
If you don’t want to buy the Digital Picture frame or your mother already has one, you can always frame something yourself. Either take a picture you know your mom will love and frame it, draw or paint something yourself and frame it, or you can order a print or two off of Etsy or Society6 that you know your mom will love and frame it for her! If you are interested in creating some wall art yourself, but you’re not really sure what you can make, there are tons of DIY Videos or DIY Blog Posts you can watch and read and learn how to create something!
Personally, my mother is ALWAYS making lists. To-do lists, phone number lists, grocery store lists…etc! So why not pick up a nice journal for your mother to write down her thoughts or make her lists in? They have some really great journals at Chapters, Urban Outfitters, Rifle Paper Co. (image above) and Anthropologie that I’m sure any mother would love!
10. Perfume or Body Lotion/Butter
Perfume or Body Lotion/Butter are also great gift ideas. Perfume can be a little bit more expensive, so if you don’t want to splurge on that, getting some nice body butter is also a great idea for a gift! Great places to look for perfume are the drug store, Sephora (click on image above to view some), a Department Store (Sears, The Bay, Nordstroms, etc.) And great places to look for body lotions or butters are The Body Shop, Crabtree & Evelyn and the drug store has some great brands that sell body butters and lotions too.
(Bonus) 11. Spend Time with Her
Sure, i’ve just given you a list of 10 things you can BUY or make for your mother. But besides that, make sure to actually spend time with your mother or caregiver on mothers day; and if you are far away and you’re unable to spend time with her, at least give her a call letting her know how much you appreciate her and how much you love her. This will mean more to her than any gift you can purchase at a store. The gifts are for if you want to make that day something EXTRA special, but spending time with your mother or talking to her on that day if you can’t spend time with her, is the ultimate gift that will make it the best day for her.
I hope this post gives you some great ideas for mothers day! Even if you decide not to buy a gift for the day, make sure you spend time with your mother or caregiver and let them know how much you appreciate them and all they have done for you. Even that Because let’s be honest, mothers are the absolute best humans on earth (I know mine is!). Have a great weekend everyone, and happy early mothers day to all the amazing mothers out there!
Let me know in the comments below what you will be doing for mothers day!
