Beauty Products I Wish I Never Bought

Makeup Monday

When you buy a product, you don’t always get to try it out before actually paying for it. That’s especially common in the drugstore. So over the past while (a long while), I’ve accumulated some products that I wish I never bought. Now, this is my own personal opinion and what doesn’t work for me may be different than what works for someone else, but nevertheless, here is a list of a few products (mostly drug store products, that I wish I never purchased).

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
I found that there has been a lot of hype around this product, so when I saw it in my local shoppers drug mart, I decided, hey, why not? It’s only $7. I also heard it was a pretty good dupe for Benefit’s Porefessional, product and packaging wise. However, I really dislike this product. I don’t like the smell or the texture (silicon) of this and throughout the day it felt heavy and made my skin look oily. The last thing I didn’t like about it is that it actually clogged my pores and broke me out, which it says isn’t supposed to happen, but it did. Overall, this was just a disappointing product and I wouldn’t buy it again.

Maybelline FIT ME Foundation Stick
I bought this product thinking it would save me time and space in my travel bag to have a stick foundation. I don’t think it’s an absolutely HORRIBLE product by any means, but even though it has the moisturizing centre, I still find it really hard to blend and look natural. Lastly, I don’t really like how their shade selection is so small, it made it difficult for me to find my proper shade.

Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Saint
If you saw my review on this product, you’re aware that I’m not really a huge fan of it. The packaging is awesome and the shadows are extremely pigmented, but the tones of the shadows are extremely orange and that’s not something I personally like in an eyeshadow. I also ended up disliking how shimmery some of the colours are because there was a lot of fall out. I just don’t think this palette was worth the price I bought it at from Sephora back in September.

Revlon Photoready BB Cream
I bought this product when I was looking for a BB cream that was reasonably priced but still had good coverage. Although I heard a lot of good reviews on this, I personally didn’t like it. I found that it was too mousy and not liquid enough for my liking. I found it made my skin oily as well. As well as this, I don’t believe the colours that are available are that great because the lightest shade wasn’t very light and this light medium actually ended up being really dark.

Essence Lipgloss
I learned my lesson from this essence lipgloss that buying lipgloss just because its $1.00 is not always a great payoff. These Lip Glosses came in pretty nice colours and they weren’t extremely sheer, but they actually last maybe 30 seconds on your lips, which was definitely a downside because it defeats the purpose of wearing lipgloss.

Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer
I guess how well this product works will vary depending on your skin tone, but this moisturizer actually turned my skin orange over night. It didn’t take long for the orange to go away but for a moisturizer that is supposed to be “natural” looking, my orange skin was FAR from natural because of this product (And I promise I applied it evenly and right, it was just the colour!)

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray
This product says it works for all different hair types, including mine which is straight, fine and medium length. However, I tried this product multiple times and it doesn’t work. AT. ALL. It makes your hair sticky and feel straw like in the end but there are no waves.

Quo Brush Cleanser
This makeup brush cleanser is way less effective than shampoo and water, which is what I normally used. I only decided to pick up a brush cleanser because I thought maybe it would clean them better than shampoo and water, but this spray does not. I felt like it didn’t really do anything and by the time I was done using it on my brushes that were still extremely makeup filled.

So that is the list of products I wish I never bought. Of course, I test out and love most products I buy before picking them up because I don’t want to waste money, but these were a few products I couldn’t test out or was mislead about. I’m sure these products work for tons of other people, but for me personally they don’t and I wouldn’t repurchase them.

On a side note, I’m excited to announce that I’m starting a little series on my blog where I interview other bloggers and ask them questions all about their blogs and their blogging techniques, etc. Interviews that I have lined up so far for thing coming series (maybe this week or next week) are Carly Heitlinger from The College Prepster and LaurDIY from Desire and Inspire and youtube.

Hope you all have an amazing week! Let me know in the comments below if you have tried any of these products and what your opinions are on them (positive or negative)!
