Q&A Series

The other day I did a short Q&A with Laura from the fashion and style blog, Tiny Twisst! I’ve actually been a long time reader of Laura’s blog and I’ve also been subscribed to her on her youtube channel! If you are interested in fashion and beauty, I would suggest reading Laura’s blog or watching her youtube videos!

Q&A with Laura:

Can you introduce yourself, tell us where you’re based from and what the name of your blog is?

Hi, I’m Laura a 25 year old fashion obsessed girl living in Essex and I own the blog www.tinytwisst.com

How would you describe your blog?
Tiny Twisst is a place for high-street inspiration and outfit ideas. The high-street is a fantastic place and I like to show how you can get great outfits for affordable prices. Sure, it’s nice to be able to spend £300 on a dress, but lets face it… we can’t all live like that! (sadly!)

How long have you had your blog for and why did you start it?
As a fashion blog, it’s been around for 2 years, however it was actually a beauty blog for 2 years before this too – I had a change of direction! So, 4 years in total! I’ve always had websites and blogs though, although back in the day it was all done on Live Journal (I’m probably sounding really old now!)

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is girly with a hint of rock chic, I like to mix it up a little but always love a pretty dress (I just wear it with a leather jacket!) I tend to try different styles so a lot of the time I just wear what I like, rather than sticking to one specific trend. I like to think I love bright colours, but when I open my wardrobe it is infact the opposite, black is just brilliant. I also always add a pop of colour using lipsticks, it can literally change the feel of a whole outfit.. my collection is always growing!

Are you a flats or heels kind of girl?

Flats for shopping and heels for a night out – I own millions of pairs, of both!

What is your absolute favourite fashion trend you’ve seen for this spring/summer 2014 so far?

I am absolutely loving the bright patterned jumpsuit trend at the moment – it’s so fun and fantastic for upcoming festivals! Jumpsuits are so flattering for all shapes as well, pick the right one and it will be your wardrobe staple – day or night! Also, I’m loving the crisp white trend, if I wasn’t so worried about dropping a coffee down myself!

Who are your biggest fashion influences?

I absolutely LOVE Fearne Cotton‘s style recently. She adds her own twist to all her outfits and isn’t afraid to be a little daring, something we should all learn by! If I could steal her entire wardrobe, I would! On the other end of the spectrum, I love The Olsen twins and how simple they keep their outfits – effortlessly tailored.

I also see through your blog that you have a youtube channel (and i’ve been a subscriber for a while haha!) What made you want to branch off from your blog even further and start on youtube?

I think it was the fact that I spend a lot of my time on youtube watching videos – I just randomly made my own! It’s a lot easier to talk abour products on a video, as well as do tutorials. For instance, showing my readers how to style short hair is near to impossible via photos, but a lot easier on video. I also like the fact I can talk to people, as crazy as it might sound – no one talks back (obviously) but it’s nice to know people are watching!

What is one staple piece of clothing in your closet?
Definitely, 100% my leather jacket from Topshop. It has studded detailing on the collar and shoulders, and I just love it. Sometimes I stop myself from wearing it, in fear that I always look the same! It is a brilliant piece for any outfit though, wether it be for a casual day out, or a night out with the girls!

Do you have any advice for people wanting to start a blog?
Just do it! So many people tell me they want to start up a blog but can’t, or are worried about it. Just sit down with a cuppa and get involved. The first post will always seem the hardest, but after that it gets so much easier. The blogging community are so friendly as well, I have made so many friends through blogging! I’d definitely suggest checking out the blogger hashtags on Twitter (#fbloggers & #bbloggers) for lots of tips!
