Instead of doing a brand focus today, I thought I would actually do a product focus post and talk about some of my favourite blushes. The odd thing is, I wouldn’t really say I’m a huge blush person, however, it seems to be one of the most popular products in my whole makeup drawer! (not too sure how that happened, but I’m not complaining)
Bobbi Brown Blush in Pale Pink – Perfect to give you some colour in the winter time as if it’s the summer!
Just like eyeshadow, there are thousands of different colours of blush, and i’m not over exaggerating – there really are thousands of different colours and hundreds of different brands to choose from. You’ll often find that although drug store blushes are great, the colour selection is not as good or as unique as the colour selection of high end blushes.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow – Gives an amazing natural glow for any time of the year (review here)
Another real cool thing about blush besides all the different colour and brand choices, is the effect it can have on someones colour while they’re wearing makeup. Like a highlighter, blush can make someone look more awake and their skin look healthier just by adding that little bit of colour to their skin.
Lancome Blush Subtil in Aplum– Great for when I’m more tanned in the summer or darker skin tones!
Although adding the little bit of colour to your skin can be good, overdoing it can be really bad look. Make sure when you’re applying blush, especially a more colourful blush such as the bobbi brown one above or the lancome one, that you apply with a really light hand because less is more.
Nars Blush in Orgasm – This is a universal blush that looks great on all skin tones! (apply with light hand)
The blushes above are the different colours of high end blushes I have and below I put two of the drug store blushes I have which I find work just as great and one of them I’d actually say is a potential dupe for my hourglass ambient lighting blush.
You can’t really tell in the photo because the colouring looks darker but I would actually say if you don’t want to splurge on the hourglass ambient lighting blush, just go buy the Maybelline FIT ME blush in either light or medium mauve and it is a close second to the hourglass blush I have! It may not be as pigmented, but for only $6 its a pretty good blush (top 10 under $10)
And as most people know, all the NYX blushes are awesome with a pretty good range of colours (some not as available in Canada, but still great). They’re really “buttery” (I dislike using that word to describe makeup, but it’s true…) and stay on long!
That’s all for this post! If you didn’t get the chance to see my other posts this past weekend, I did a different kind of blog post where I just wrote all about taking time and exploring, and I also did a post for my Q&A Series with Katie from Katie’s Bliss! I hope you all had an amazing long weekend and have a great rest of the week!
