Health Food Haul // The Big Carrot & Healthy Planet

Whatever Wednesday

After living in residence for six months this past school year and eating what my meal plan would buy me, it’s no surprise that I can hardly bare the thought of eating processed food every single day of my life now. And eating food in residence is one of those things where even if you think you’re eating something a little bit healthier, you’re probably not because it’s going to be extremely processed anyways but I wasn’t planning on living off the six dollar container of veggie sticks the whole school year in order to eat healthier. Anyways, my point is that this summer I have become focused on taking the time to eat real food.

Living in the city makes eating real food extremely simple. There are so many awesome grocery stores, markets and health food stores to buy produce, grains, meats, and much more. Therefore, no excuses. In the past few days I’ve been to some markets on the Danforth, The Big Carrot Natural Food Market, also located on the Danforth, and Healthy Planet Canada. So today I decided to share with you some of the things I picked up!

The Big Carrot Haul //
yogi green tea kombucha
Yogi Green Tea Kombucha // Not only does this tea taste incredible (actually probably one of my favourite Yogi teas I’ve tried), it is also meant to help support your immune system, boost metabolism and provide antioxidants.

ginger cookies
WOW Ginger Molasses // I bought these as a treat for when my sweet tooth kicks in. I’d have to say that for being wheat free and gluten free they taste exactly like regular ginger molasses cookies (which have always been my favourite). I’m glad I found this because also normal cookies are great tasting, these are a better portioned a bit healthier alternative to my favourite treat!

happy planet smoothie
Happy Planet Extreme Green Fruit Smoothie // I don’t have a proper blender here but I’ve always loved all smoothies, especially green smoothies and juices. Until I get my hands on a blender for my house, this is a great alternative. Unlike most bottled “smoothies”, this healthy planet one has actually fruits and veggies in it and no added sugars and it tastes great too!

kombucha wonder drink
Kombucha Wonder Drink Essence of Juniper Berry // This shiz tastes good

Healthy Planet Canada Haul //
kale chips
Ultimate Kale Chips Red Peppercorn Ranch // I’ve heard that making kale chips on your own is cheap and easy…and i’ll try that our one day, but these ones sounded too good to resist buying! They’re also all air dried rather than baked or fried which is a definite plus. They’re also organic, raw, vegan and gluten free.

chia seeds
Prana Black Chia Seeds // I bought these solely to make vanilla chia seed pudding for breakfast (recipe up on my blog soon)

synergy kombucha
Synergy Gingerberry Kombucha // Yet another kombucha drink… just trying them all out (there are too many to choose from)

organic salad dressing
Simply Natural Organic Roasted Red Pepper Vinaigrette // My mom started buying from this salad dressing brand when she first went gluten free and it’s delicious, so even though I’m not gluten free, i’ll continue to buy it!

organic spicy hummas
Sunflower Kitchen Spicy Hummas // Just some good ol’ hummas

And that’s everything I have to share for my health food store haul! What are your favourite healthy foods to buy? Any favourite snacks or suggestions for me? Have an awesome week everyone!
