Hello Beautiful People!
Happy first official Makeup Monday (if I could also call it and other products Monday, I would do that too because clearly skincare isn’t makeup but it’s close). Today I’m going to be sharing my holy grail skincare products with all of you. I’ve played around with skincare products for the last few years to figure out what really works for my skin, which is combination skin and I’m not necessarily acne prone, but it happens at times…TMI? Oh well. There are the products I use every single day or once or twice a week, depending on the particular product. You’ll notice most of the products are from Lush and The Body Shop, which for me, are definitely the most reliable places to get my skincare products, even if they are a little pricier, it’s worth it. First I’ll talk about my favourite scrubs/masks, then face wash, then toners, then lastly, moisturizers!
Face Masks/Facial Scrubs:
The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask
This face mask is one I actually bought recently and I loved it from first use. Although I’m still experimenting with it, I already know it’s going to be one of my favourites. This particular mask is extremely soothing/cooling on your face and helps acne prone skin after multiple uses. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then remove with a soft washcloth and warm water (this mask doesn’t fully dry, it’s not meant to).
The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask
I bought this face mask a long time ago and have used it SO much, and yet you get so much product out of this little container (i’m still surprised how much I have left). This mask is meant to help with oily/combination skin, which I have. I leave this mask on until it completely dries, which is usually 10-15 minutes and then remove with a soft wash cloth and warm-hot water (the hot water makes it easier to remove).
Lush Ocean Salt
This scrub is meant for face or body, however, I only use it on my face. I use this 1-2 times a week before using my normal face wash. These leaves your skin incredibly smooth by getting rid of any dead skin/dry skin on your face. I would recommend this to anyone with really dry skin because it gets rid of the dry skin and also helps moisturize your face. Spread the product on your entire face (make sure your face has water on it first) or in problem areas, then scrub it around your face for a couple minutes, then remove with a soft cloth and warm water being careful not to be too harsh because the salt can be extremely harsh on sensitive skin). If you’d like to know more about this product, I did a review on it here.
The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash
This is my one and only…I’m serious. I used to use an Aveeno face wash, and although it worked well, it definitely did not work as well as this. This product is well priced (around $12), lasts a really long time (I started using it in the middle of May this year and have only repurchased it once a few weeks ago), and really helped clear up my skin! It’s really gentle and smells good. I would recommend this product for any skin type.
Lush Eau Roma Water Toner
This spray toner from lush is so refreshing! A few sprays on your face before applying your moisturizer morning and night helps to clear your skin, moisturize, refresh and get rid of any dirt on your face. Another cool thing about this product is that when you allow it to fully dry and then you put your moisturizer on, it helps the moisturizer to sink into the skin better. You can spray the product on your face, or you can put a little bit on a cotton pad to remove any dirt/makeup from your face. It also smells great!
The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner
This is a recently purchased toner but it goes with my Seaweed skincare set from the body shop. It helps to remove any dirt and makeup from your face and I only use this product on a cotton pad at night before washing my face! It also comes at a great price and will clearly last a long time just like the face wash. It’s nice because some toners I find to be really harsh on the skin (too much alcohol in the product), but this one is really great for sensitive skin because it’s very gentle.
This has been one of my holy grail skincare products for a long time and i’m sure will continue to be for as long as I’m taking care of my skin (hopefully forever…). Although a little on the expensive side (around $20 per bottle), it lasts for around 3-4 months per bottle, which is worth the price. Drug stores also usually have deals for Bioderma where you can get two bottles for the price of one or a larger bottle for the price of the medium size bottle. I use this toner to take off all my makeup, which is does extremely well. And before I purchased the seaweed toner, I would use this with a cotton pad all over my entire face and it does an excellent job at removing all the dirt and makeup on your face! This is probably one of my most highly recommended skincare products.
Neutrogena Naturals Multi Vitamin Nourishing Daily Moisturizer
This is my absolute favourite moisturizer and has been for a long time. I no longer experience really dry skin, particularly in the winter and it also contributed to the clearing of my skin. A little bit of this product goes a long way and it lasts for around 2-4 months, depending on how often you use it. I only use this moisterizier before bed because I find I don’t like the feeling of it as much under makeup because its not as mattifying. I recommend this product to any person with any skin type.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Lotion with SPF 15
There are a few reasons why this product is great. It lasts a really long time, it’s mattifying, therefore, it’s awesome to use under your daily makeup (which I do!), and lastly but certainly not least, it has sunscreen in it. It’s important, no matter what season, to protect your skin and it’s really handy that my moisturizer and my BB cream both have SPF in them to help protect my skin from the sun.
That is all for the first Makeup Monday post! I hope this post was helpful if you’re looking to try any new skincare products. Let me know if you use any of these or if you end up trying any and what you think of them! What are your favourite skincare products? Have an amazing week everyone and see you on Whatever Wednesday!
