2014 Beauty Favourites

Makeup Monday
Hello Beautiful People!

It’s been a week (due to my camera battery charger not cooperating) but i’m back! Today I thought it would be a cool idea to share my favourite beauty products that I used throughout 2014. I skipped a few products that were obvious, like the moisturizer and face wash I use every single day and mention in almost every post. In 2014, I became really interested in playing around with different makeup and trying new things and these products are kind of the ‘end’ result of all the different products I tried. I would 100% say that most of these products are staples in my everyday makeup routine and will continue to be unless something better comes along at one point!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
I’ve talked about this product in most of my beauty posts on here so I’m not going to go into great deal about it other than saying it’s a great price and the best BB cream I’ve ever tried!

Marcelle Face Powder
For a while in 2014 I was using the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and although I liked the power, I started to feel that my face had way too many powder products on it. However, when my mom gave me this loose translucent powder, I fell in love! The product is light and you can easily control how much powder is going on your face. It’s natural looking and really sets your foundation or BB Cream and helps it stay all day!

The Body Shop Brush on Radiance Highlight in Apricot
I really love this highlight. I use it on my cheek bones and the bridge of my nose (however, if I’m having a day where I don’t feel like I look very alive or awake, I use it more parts of my face like my temples and cheeks. I don’t actually notice the colour when applying it, but the highlight is really nice and not too sparkly.

Benefit High Beam
Another product I’ve talked about like crazy on my blog for the past year but that’s only because it’s amazing! I’ve been using this product for a little over a year and I’m only on my second bottle of it (and I use it ever single day). It’s definitely worth the price and it stays on all day long, giving you that glowy (awake) look!

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder
I love that this bronzer comes in different shades for different skin tones (surprisingly hard to find sometimes). I find a lot of bronzers have a orange tint to them, which on some skin tones, can be extremely unflattering. But this is definitely one of the most natural looking bronzing powders I’ve ever used. You can just add a little colour to your skin or you can really build it up and contour different parts of your face! The price is also a plus, especially because the body shop has sales so often.

Tarte Flush Cheek Stain
I used this berry coloured cheek stain the entire summer and absolutely loved using it. It can take a while to get used to (at least if you’re used to using powdered blushes) but it gives a really natural look and it stays on the entire day! I actually didn’t buy this product, it was one of my 200 point perks from Sephora, but I can only imagine that the actual full size product must last forever because my sample is still going!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes
These blushes deserved multiple pictures in this post for many reasons. These are 100% the best blushes I’ve ever used in my entire life. The packaging is so luxurious but also extremely easy to toss in your makeup bag and the product will stay in tact, so the quality of the packaging makes the price almost worth it in itself. However, the product is AMAZING. I own four of the blushes (one single one and then the three blush palette) and every single one of them is so pigmented, looks extremely natural, and I feel kind of odd saying this, but all the blushes are really soft….like very very very soft. I have used my single blush almost every single day since the beginning of summer and there is still tons of product left! If you’re willing to splurge on a blush, this is the one to splurge on. And if you’re not sure what colour to use and you want to try a few out, I definitely recommend the palette (it may be limited edition though, so hurry! haha).

The Naked Basics Palette and the Naked Palette
I own and absolutely love all the naked palettes. They’re such great quality for your money, pigmented, stay on all day and come in a variety of different shades. However, out of all the naked palettes, my favourites would definitely have to be the basics palette and the original naked palette. I use the basics palette almost every single day because the shadows are a neutral tone and all except one is matte, which is amazing for an everyday look. When I’m going out or want a little extra sparkle on my eyes, I tend to lean towards the original naked palette; I absolutely love all the colours and I’ve sadly almost hit pan on a few of them. Don’t get me wrong though, I really love the naked 2 and 3 as well and am hoping to get my hands on the basics 2 palette some day soon!

Anastasia Brow Wiz
I won’t go into too much detail about this product either because I’ve talked about it so many times on here and I’ve also done a full review on it HERE! However, one thing I will say about it is that I’m completely loyal to this brow product (as silly as that may sound) and I’ll likely continue using it for a long time!

Benefit They’re Real! Mascara
I’ve had some up and downs with this mascara but in the end, I’ve used this product almost everyday throughout the year. It makes your eyelashes look so much longer and does a very good job at separating your lashes. Although I’m sure you could really build up the product to make your eyelashes look fuller, I really like using one or two coats for more natural looking lashes. One suggestion is so curl your lashes before using the mascara or else it can make your lashes stick out a little bit.

The Body Shop Aloe Lip Care
Last winter and this winter my lips have been extremely dry and it’s actually (TMI maybe) been extremely painful and definitely not flattering looking. I use this product every morning and night in the winter and it leaves my lips so smooth and moisturized! I recommend using it only at night and a thinner layer in the morning before you put product on your lips because the product is extremely thick and glossy. For only $9 you get a good size tube that lasts a long time!

Mac Lipsticks in Faux and Please Me
These are my two go-to lipsticks! Please Me is a matte finish and Faux is a satin finish! For everyday, I tend to lean towards Faux more often because its a brownish pink kind of tone which looks a little more natural. However, Please Me stays on for a really long time and if you don’t want to be reapplying your lipstick over and over again all day, any mac matte lipsticks are your best bet!

Real Techniques Face Brushes
These brushes are amazing for an even more amazing price. You can get some of the sets for around $18 on amazon and single brushes for around $8-10! They work so well and they’re definitely my go to brushes. I don’t really see any point in spending tons of money on makeup brushes when these are really great quality for way less.

Makeup Application Sponge/Beauty Blender
Although I’d love to try the actual beauty blender, it’s a little pricy for me for what it is. This beauty blender dupe that I buy from shoppers drug mart for $5 works amazingly and makes my BB Cream blend extremely well and helps to make the BB Cream and my concealer look a lot more natural.

Essie Nail Polishes
I have LOVED these two Essie nail polishes all year and they’re definitely the ones I go for the most when I go to paint my nails. The purple polish is in the colour ‘Lilacism’ and the pink polish is in the colour ‘Muchi, Muchi’. They’re both extremely easy to apply, only take about two coats and last for around a week!

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream
This is probably one of the best body butters I’ve ever smelled. It smells like lime and candy (sounds weird but it’s better than you’d think!) Although I do love my body shop body butters, this particular body butter has more of a thinner consistency which is more comfortable for me to wear throughout the day. It’s also really moisturizing! The only downside is that the smell doesn’t last for very long.

Well, those are some of my 2014 beauty favourites! I’m sure I accidentally left out a few products and I’ll remember later, but I also left out some because I talked about them way too much. I hope you all enjoyed this post and let me know what some of your favourite beauty products of 2014 were! I’m excited to try some new things their year! Have an amazing week everyone!
